Buried Stone Farms began with a simple dream and a deep respect for animals, land, and honest food. As a young couple just getting by, we started small — raising a few chickens and pigs for ourselves. But everything changed when we became parents.
Shocked by how most store-bought meat was raised, we knew we had to do better — not just for our kids, but for our animals. We began raising our own grass-fed, hormone-free, antibiotic-free beef, the way we believe it should be: healthy, ethical, and nourishing for families like ours.
Word spread quickly. Friends and neighbors began asking how they could get beef like ours. That encouragement led to our mission: to provide Midwest families with clean, ethically raised meat they can trust.
Since 2022, we've proudly offered our beef directly to consumers throughout Michigan and Wisconsin. Most of our beef is raised right here on our farm in Escanaba, Michigan, and the rest comes from trusted small farms that follow the same strict protocols — 100% grass-fed, no hormones, and no shortcuts.
In 2023, we expanded our offerings to include pasture-raised lamb and pork from family farms in Northern Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Our poultry is also locally sourced from Northern Wisconsin, with even more options on the way.
Starting in 2025, we’re excited to offer lamb from our own farm as well!
